Time on your hands...looking for something fulfilling and very self rewarding? Nothing fits the bill like learning to play guitar or bass and its NEVER too late. My oldest pupil (Bob Allen) is 86 years old and did not pick up a guitar until he was 80. To put that in perspective, he was 30 before Elvis cut his first record! Within months he was appearing regularly in public and has subsequently played at several large outdoor festivals. Of course many people prefer to confine their performances to family and friends or even to themselves. The choice is yours.

I have many pupils in the over 50 age group because being 60 myself and having spent a lifetime performing, I fully understand the kind of music that 'older musicians' aspire to play (Shadows, Beatles, Clapton, Fleetwood Mac etc.)

My starter course consists of four one hour lessons spread out over four consecutive weeks. These will be daytime lessons, usually in a small friendly group. If daytime is not suitable then evenings can be arrange. With a fairly easy regime of practice (typically 30 minutes a day) the course will provide you with the basic hand skills and sufficient musical knowledge to go forward with confidence. The full course costs £40 if you already have a guitar or £60 (plus a returnable deposit) if I provide a guitar for the duration of the course. You will have an option to have your deposit returned or keep the guitar at the end of the four lessons. I am always available to give free advice on guitars and equipment and often have access to reasonably priced second hand items. Of course you will also have the option to enrol for more advanced tuition.

As a further option, you will have sufficient ability to join THE GUITAR CLUB which is a regular opportunity to meet other players at your level and learn some favourite guitar pieces together. We use the material we learn to periodically put on a show for family and friends.

The starter course also makes a great gift for Christmas or birthdays.
